Respite care in Canberra and the ACT

Respite gives carers a planned break while the person they care for is looked after, at home, in the community, or through an overnight or cottage stay. 187 providers are registered to deliver respite in the ACT, including dedicated respite services and home care providers whose registration covers respite. 157 publish pricing and 116 are not-for-profit. In-home respite can be funded through a Support at Home budget or the Commonwealth Home Support Programme, and residential homes also offer short respite stays; assessment starts with My Aged Care on 1800 200 422.
