Carers ACT is the peak body supporting unpaid carers in the ACT, connecting carers with advice, peer support and services through the Carer Gateway. Its respite cottage in Holt offers a home away from home where the person being cared for can stay while their carer takes a break, with overnight stays and day respite available under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme. Cottage contributions are published on the Carers ACT website, with overnight stays at a set contribution per 24 hours and day stays from 9am to 5pm.
⚠ Pricing note
Cottage respite fees are effective 1 January 2026. CHSP client contributions are $90 per overnight stay (set at 85% of the full single Aged Pension payment, per 24-hour period) and $40 per day for a full day from 9 am to 5 pm or part thereof. Under Support at Home and fee-for-service, fees per 24-hour period are $150 for a weekday day program, $500 Monday to Friday overnight, $600 Saturday and $850 Sunday or public holidays. Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice are charged the full cost of the scheduled hours for the first two days of the stay.
